Some people just do not believe in luck, and yet others seem to have been believing in them since time immemorial. The concept of superstition has traveled all over the world from the dawn of civilization, and it was popular with tribal people. The only difference between the modern superstitions and those of the past is that the modern superstitions do not carry any power or force behind them but are based on an individual’s personal experiences and beliefs. A superstition can be considered as a belief shared by a large number of people, that some event will take place because of some individual or some group of people. In most cases, this belief will be held in very strong conviction and if that belief is not changed then it can have very adverse effects on a person’s life.
A few of the strangest superstitions people actually believe are associated with the idea of the hex. Horseshoe is one such belief that has its root in the ancient Indo-European religion. There it was considered to be a symbol that pointed to the balance of the different elements. For example, a hex would represent the existence of earth, wind, water, and fire or the absence of these elements.
The idea of the hex and other associated ideas may have come from the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy and the ancient book of Gezira. Some old wives of the Bible may have used these hexes to warn their husbands about the sexual activities of their lovers. So you can see that these are not necessarily entirely false, but they are not the only ones that may want to give you advice.
